Undefeated Brazilian female fighter Claudia ‘Claudinha’ Gadelha (9-0) has suffered a broken nose and therefore will not face Carla ‘Cookie Monster’ Esparza (8-2) for the inaugural Invicta Fighting Championship stawweight title next month in Kansas.
The two were set to headline the the promotions first pay-per-view event, Invicta FC 4, scheduled for January 5, 2013 at Memorial Hall in Kansas City.
News of the injury comes straight from Invicta executive Shannon Knapp, via MMAFighting.com.
“Claudia broke her nose in five different places and had to have surgery,” said Knapp. “I can’t name names yet, but we’ve got a few solid potential replacements to fight Carla.”
Knapp still plans on crowning a strawweight champion and will pit Torrance against an as-of-yet unnamed opponent.
